Hey guys, just thought I'd let you all know, I got the beta for Medal of Honor, it's a 5$ deposit with the possibility to cancel whenever you want, Beta is going on until July 18th. You get the first like 10 ranks to unlock and play with. First glimpse, hell of a lot of fun. It's fast, well balanced, just good times. NO over-powered Killstreaks. NOOB TUBES and ROCKETS are virtually ineffective unless you hit right next to someone, direct hits, or in a stair well where the air pressure would surely kill you. Guns are awesome and balanced fairly well. DESTRUCTION is possible but takes ALOT of force to actually take out a SECTION of wall, no collapsing buildings or anything, just bits of wall destruction . For 5$ its worth a shot, I've enjoyed it so far. Dedicated Servers already up for beta, so far no console..but whats the point without the full game right? 2 levels, 1 for each gametype, although I'm sure there's gonna be more. get it and we can pwn together [ image disabled ]
Cool, So far it runs well on my PC. I had to knock it down to DirectX9, but now it runs at what I'm guessing is 30-40 FPS on Medium settings. With DX10 I'd guess around 20 FPS again on Medium for me. Maps aren't HUGE so the PC demand is down a bit, and the recommended specs are a lot lower than BC2. BUT The game looks just as good, and in my opinion better than BC2. HIT DETECTION seems solid. The only problem I've found is getting a non-full server with a decent ping so lag isn't an issue.
It's crashed a few times for me, which might be because I'm running it on DX9, but that can be expected form a Beta, however the crashes are not discouraging me from playing cause it's a lot of fun.
I think the best part about it is the points system. Rather than killstreaks it's called a Score Chain. You need a score of 40 to get to the first chain (UAV or Mortar, you chose on the fly), 100 to get to the next and so on. Kills count for 10, assists count for 5, headshots are an additional 5, revenge kills additional 5, saviour kills additional 5. The Mortar strike is called in from your perspective using a set of binoculars, so no over the map BS, and it strikes like 2-3 times only, no 6-10 blasting over a 50' area.
only complaint right now is the crashes, might be because I'm running DX9 though... but definitely addicted...good game, you guys should try it. Fast paced, lots of bullets flying rather than rockets/tubes [ image disabled ]
If I play it'll be on full release when I know what all features made it into the game and I can read IGN/Gamespot reviews. It's really nothing new and exciting, so I'm not drooling over it just yet. I'll be interested to see if the competitive gaming community takes well to this game though, because that's about the only thing that would make me really want to buy this game. Do you think it has the makings of COD4's competitive aspect or is it lacking in that potential aspect? [ image disabled ]
It looked like a mix of COD4 and MW2. So far I hear decent reviews, but it is early. Are the dedicated servers for anyone to host, or just like BFBC2 where only sponsored GSP's can host?

Yeah, those are the questions I want answered before I buy this game. Are there dedicated servers with mod tools avaliable? If there isn't any type of competition mod I doubt this game takes off on TWL, etc.
Also, how is registration? I know that is one of the biggest complaints we have about BC2.
Unless at least these two issues are addressed, I doubt that I will buy this game (no matter how much I want to pwn Echo's face, GO USA, Yeah!) [ image disabled ]
haha, you guys are funny, the dedi servers right now appear to be specific dedicated companies offering servers for the beta, they run smooth. I'm assuming it will turn into client side server running, but no need for the beta. I don't know about the mod tools, nothing offered in the beta, cause its a beta, so we'll have to see. Currently there is no hardcore mode that I've seen. Although it's possible that all the nublets are playing the beta right now so they are all scared of Hardcore, hence no servers with it. Not sure, need to look into that.
And ErratiK, I don't know if you noticed my earlier post, but this is a free beta. 5$ deposit on the game which you get back when you cancel your pre-order, as I plan to do. Even for 5$ its an amusing time spender So get it, and good luck pwning me in the face! [ image disabled ]
lol no it will be 5$ Just pre-order it from Gamestop/EB Games, they only require a 5$ deposit for the pre-order and they will let you cancel it. They give you a little page with the beta key on it. FTW GET IT [ image disabled ]
